Fellowship Program in Geriatric Medicine An ACGME-accredited, two-year training program for physicians who have completed traingin in internal medicine and seek certification in geriatrics.
Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship Psychiatric training program conducted by the Cornell Institute of Geriatric Psychiatry. Fellow in this program are linked to the geriatric medicine program through their provision of clinical consultations at Amsterdam Nursing Home.
Medical Residency Rotation in Geriatric Medicine Rotation designed to introduce interns to geriatric medicine. Medical residents from both NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell and NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia take part in the rotation, and are exposed to the Housecall Program, geropsychiatry rounds, and activities at the Amsterdam Nursing Home.
Teaching Nursing Home Program Based at Amsterdam Nursing Home, the program seeks to establish the long-term care facility as an educational center. The program has become an important piece of the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program.
Medical Student Geriatric Interest Group Serving as mentors, faculty from the Division of Geriatrics and Gerontology monthly meet with a group of students contemplating careers in geriatric medicine. This has been supported by both the American Federation for Aging Research (founded by Dr. Irving Wright) and the Samuels/Fan Fox Foundation.
Weill Cornell Summer Geriatrics Program Over the summer months, the program introduces medical students to mentors in the Division of Geriatrics and Gerontology. Each student is paired according to his or her are of interest for work in a field project or lab. Didactic clinical sessions in geriatrics augment the experience.

Medical Residency Rotation in Geriatric Medicine Introduces interns to geriatric medicine. Medicine residents rotate to the Geriatric Evaluation Management (GEM) Unit at the Allen Pavilion, the Fort Washington Geriatric Clinic, the Morgan ACNC Clinic, and the Associates in Internal Medicine (AIM) and podiatry clinics. Dr. Miriam Rabkin of the AIM Clinic developed the geriatric syllabus for this rotation.
Columbia University New York Geriatric Education Center Based out of the Stroud Center of the New York State Psychiatric Institute, this project includes faculty from New York University Medical Center and Beth Abraham, and is one of 20 Geriatric Education Centers nationwide. The project offers lectures and practicums on geropsychiatry, geriatric assessment, communication issues, elder abuse, long-term care, nutrition, Alzheimers Disease, and quality of life. A five-day certificate program in interdisciplinary geriatric training is offered.
Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship sponsored by NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia and the New York State Office of Mental Health, the two-year program is offered out of the Stroud Center of the New York State Psychiatric Institute. The program focuses on working with geriatric psychiatrists to help shift the public mental health system away from a concentration on inpatients and toward an integrated community approach.
